Been a while since I've posted, but aurora did something really cute last night, so I thought I'd take this time to say a little something about our bedtime ritual.
For the past few months Aurora's been pretty good about going to bed now. Every night after dinner Aurora and I have "daddy daughter" time where I give her a bath (sometimes she wants one, sometimes not so much). We play in the bath for a bit and then head to her room where she gets 3 stories and a bottle before bed. Now that she's sleeping in her "big girl" bed, she crawls in herself and cuddles up while we read stories and talk.
Usually in order to get her to sleep I have to tell her a quick version of Madagascar which goes something like this:
Once upon a time there was a lion named ALEX. He had three best friends. Marty the zebra, Gloria the hippo, and Melman the giraffe. Marty wanted to go to the wild, so they all went to GRAND CENTRAL STATION. Then the went on a boat. THEN the penguins turned the boat and Alex and his friends went to an island. There they met the baby who went "Waaaahahahaha", and Gloria said "I just want to dump him in my coffee". Then they meet the spider who says "well Howdee doo". Then they meet the lemurs who sing..
(and both of us sing and dance with her stuffed animals) "I LIKE TO MOVE IT MOVE IT.. I LIKE TO MOVE IT MOVE IT.."
Then Alex goes to live with the foosa, while Marty, Melman, and Gloria listen to Wonderful World. Then they all go to the beach and have sushi. Then Alex, Marty, Melman, and Gloria get on the boat and the penguins just smile and wave.
Anyway, last night she was having a little bit of trouble going to sleep.. she kept asking for mommy and daddy to come in and say goodnight. So I went in for the second time to say goodnight and Aurora reaches up and starts petting my face. She rubs my beard and goes "oooo.. niiice.
Pretty..."
Then she says "fluffy.. daddy
fluffy.."
Then she rubs my cheek (which is a bit unshaven) and giggles and goes "Oooo..
Spicy!"
Cute cute cute cute cute. :)
