we have a name!
Sorry for the lack of updates.. as you can imagine, we've both been a bit busy juggling the new baby and old baby stuff! Pen's still going to post the whole birth story when she gets a chance, but I think the new baby is definitely taking the most time from her schedule.. he's in the "feed, sleep, tinkle, feed, sle-nope more feeding.. feed feed.. feed, tinkle, feed.. sleep-d'oh! back to feeding" stage. Since we're breast feeding again, this means lots of feeding for pen & not much else.
Oh! We do have a name for our beautiful (wrinkly snorty) new boy.. Aurora picked it for us! She came to visit in the hospital on day 2 and got to meet him for the first time.
It was very cute.. at first she was a bit confused.. I think she thought that it was a baby doll, not a real baby. But after she got used to the idea of mum being in a bed (and gave her a wee snuggle) aurora got a bit more interested in the little cub & had a good look. She pet his head and said "niiice". Then she leaned in for a cuddle. When he moved, she giggled and looked around as if checking to see if we saw him move!
"What should we call him?" We asked her.. and after a little bit she said:
"TOBY!"
So Toby it is. :) Actually, his full name is:
Tobin Martin Schleifer
But we call him Toby for short. :) We figure he'll use Tobin when he's the CEO of some huge corporation, or a famous artist, or weatherman or something. :)
So anyway, we're in baby mode now.. lots of feeding, a few diaper changes (which will increase over the next week, I'm sure), and not much sleep. Last night was probably the toughest sleep-wise.. it's the point when Toby's guts are changing to start working with Milk, so he doesn't sleep too well & feeds constantly.. but luckily we've had two GREAT nights in a row with Aurora.. she slept through the night both times, and yesterday morning the first word she said when she woke up was: "TOBY?!??!?"
cute cute cute. :)
