New ‘Paws on Pemberton’ Event Brings Adoptable Dogs, Music and More to Wicomico County | New

SALISBURY, Md. – Wicomico County Recreation and Parks announced a brand new event Thursday, titled Paws On Pemberton, which will take place at Pemberton Historic Park on Saturday, August 27 from noon to 4 p.m.

Officials say that tThis new free event is a partnership between Wicomico County Recreation & Parks, the Humane Society of Wicomico County and Funny Farm Petting Zoo. They say it offers local rescues, adoptable dogs, music, vendors, pony rides, face painting and other family activities.

“I’ve had a passion for animals all my life and currently have two rescue dogs who are my whole world,” says Fallon Jackson, Child Care and Environmental Education Program Director for Wicomico Recreation & Parks. “I came with Paws on Pemberton to help connect people to our local rescue agencies and find homes for more animals.”

According to officials, rRescue agencies participating in Paws on Pemberton include the Humane Society of Wicomico County, Dogs Eye View, Inc., Grass Roots Rescue and Talladega Animal Rescue. Vendors will be on hand with pet supplies, dog training and daycare services, local art, accessories and home decor. Makeup artists and henna tattoo artists will also be on hand, along with food and shaved ice available for purchase. The event will feature a mix of live music and DJs.

“I hope we can help local animal rescues find potential adopters, volunteers or supporters,” Jackson says. “It’s a rare opportunity to meet adoptable dogs outside of a shelter and hear their stories.”

Officials say IIn case of bad weather, the event will be postponed to Sunday August 28th. They advise staying tuned to the Wicomico Recreation & Parks Facebook page for updates.
