Friday is National Rescue Dog Day, here is a list of adoptable dogs in Dallas

DALLAS (KDAF/STACKER) – The work week is hours away from being over and that means the weekend is upon us in North Texas! Did you know that Friday, May 20 is National Rescue Dog Day? So the weekend might just be the perfect time to add a new four-legged friend to the family!
When you look at the makeup of American families today, it’s rare to see a home where a pet isn’t part of the family. According to the most recent data from the APPA National Pet Ownership Survey, 67% of households, or approximately 85 million households, have a pet. Of these households, dogs and cats topped the list of most popular pets, with 63.4 million and 42.7 million households owning dogs and cats, respectively.
When exploring the history of animal shelters and rescue organizations in the country, nothing proves as problematic as the lack of a centralized reporting system to collect data on these organizations. Most of the shelter statistics that are available and accepted today are estimates based on several periodic surveys, including the aforementioned APPA National Pet Ownership Survey as well as the AVMA US Pet Ownership & Demographics sourcebook. Without a codified and streamlined process at the national level for collecting, organizing and reporting shelter data, there has been a serious lack of transparency around the country’s shelters. This makes it difficult not only to identify accurate statistics regarding protected animals in America, but also to understand the true state of animal welfare in the country, which is the first step to improving that welfare.
If you’re thinking of bringing home a furry companion, be sure to keep reading. Stacker has compiled a list of dogs available for adoption in Dallas, Texas on animal finder, varying according to age, breed composition, temperament and needs. It is important to note that adopting a pet is a huge responsibility and requires savings available for emergency and routine veterinary care, a daily routine and a game plan for coverage should the pup need to being left at home during the day (i.e. hiring a dog walker), and time and attention spent training your new family member. Be sure to do your due diligence in researching breeds to see what type of dog will best suit your lifestyle.
Without further ado, here are the adoptable dogs in your hometown.
